My poor son started a new round of othodontics today, being subjected to a surgery to graft bone from the back of his jaw to the front. Why? It started when he was born missing several of his adult teeth. Of course, we did not know this until he lost some of his baby teeth and nothing came in afterwards.
So after seven years of braces, retainers, teeth being moved and pulled, he is now in the final phase...three rounds of grafting bone. After the two hour procedure, my twenty-one year old has landed on the couch with one side of his face slowly increasing in size, like he is storing up nuts in his cheek for the winter. The timing couldn't be worse. He is in the throws of his final three weeks of his Senior year in college. Let's just hope the pain and swelling go away before graduation day. Hey, at least I didn't sneak a picture of him and post it!
